Mary is a High School Senior (class of 2026) from Brownsburg, IN. She began rowing in 2020, on a whim, during the covid shutdown when there was nothing else to do and instantly fell in love with the sport, the people, and the culture. Mary is proud to row for the Indianapolis Rowing Center and Next Level Rowing. This sport has taken her places and opened doors she never knew existed. Mary sweeps, sculls, rows port and starboard, and even coxes from time to time. She has competed in both flatwater and coastal regattas across the US. Being 5ft tall in a sport traditionally known for tall people, she has become familiar with grit and perseverance and forging a path for herself. Mary is part of the U19 Beach Sprint National Team and represented the United States in Turkey at the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in the Women’s Junior Double. Mary has won her teams end-of-season Team Spirit award twice as well as Oarswoman of the Year. She hopes to help inspire young women (especially ones of color) and short rowers to always believe that they are capable of doing absolutely anything. As long as you are willing to show-up every day and work hard for your goals, you can achieve great success no matter what anyone else tries to tell you.
When not on the water, at the boathouse or in the gym, Mary loves playing with dogs, being with friends, singing, going to church, shopping, obsessing over Robert Irwin, spending time with her family, and eating. Mary is excited to continue her rowing and academic careers at The Catholic University of America in the Fall of 2026. She looks forward to all the ways she gets to “rowfluence” others in her daily life.
